The questions customers ask before sending us a design. If yours is not here, write to us and we will answer it plainly.
What is the smallest quantity you will accept?
One. FIDRA assembles from a single prototype up to several thousand units, and there is no minimum order. Small batches are ordinary work here rather than a favour — the line is set up for them.
Do I have to supply the components?
No. FIDRA buys the bare boards and the components, so you send a design rather than a shipment. If you would rather consign parts you already hold, we work that way too. Most customers start turnkey.
Which packages can you place?
SMT placement runs at 5,000 to 20,000 components per hour, down to 0201 passives, and covers QFN and other leadless packages as well as BGA placement. Through-hole and mixed-technology assembly are done in house. Boards may be single-sided, double-sided or multilayer, to whatever layer count the design requires, including flex and rigid-flex.
How long does an order take?
Lead time is quoted per project. It is often driven by component availability. A realistic date is given before the contract, not after.
Do you run leaded or lead-free process?
Both. FIDRA has kept the leaded process alongside the lead-free one, which matters for repair work and for products built to an older specification — many manufacturers have dropped it.
What happens after assembly?
Conformal coating and potting are available for humid or harsh environments, and cable work where a board needs it. Box build and final assembly are available on request.
How are the boards tested?
Visual inspection, functional testing to your specification, and our own laboratory. FIDRA also loads firmware and verifies that finished boards do what they are supposed to do before they leave the building. Testing is done here rather than sent out, so a fault found on Tuesday is a conversation on Tuesday.
Who will I be dealing with?
The engineer or the technician working on your boards, with no intermediary in between. FIDRA is a small company — fewer than ten people, with up to five engineers on a project including external collaborators — and that is the reason the answer can be this short.
Can FIDRA design the product, not only build it?
Yes. FIDRA has designed and manufactured its own products since 2002 — telephone dialers, GSM communicators, alarm equipment, and power supplies for CCTV, LED lighting and other applications. If we can take our own products from an idea to a production run, we can do it for yours.
Do you deliver to the European Union?
Yes. FIDRA ships to customers in the European Union directly as well as through partners, and invoices in euros, paid by ordinary bank transfer. Serbia is a truck away from Central Europe rather than a container ship away.
Is FIDRA certified?
FIDRA's quality management system is certified to ISO 9001-2015. The production area is ESD-controlled, and RoHS or REACH declarations are supplied on request. The certificate itself is published on this site as a PDF, linked in the footer of every page.
