Device Overview

The device connects to your gate controller via push terminals at the top:

The SIM card slot is on the right side of the board. Push the card in to insert; pull it out to eject.

The 4G antenna screws onto the SMA connector at the top of the board.

SIM Card

This device uses a Nano SIM card.

1. Orient the SIM with the gold contacts facing down and the notched corner pointing inward (toward the board).
2. Slide it into the slot until it is seated.
3. To remove, pull the card out.

Insert the SIM before powering on. If you insert or change the SIM while the device is powered, switch it off and on again — the SIM is only read at startup.

What the SIM needs:

• Voice calls enabled (to receive calls that open the gate)
• SMS enabled (for all text commands)
• PIN lock disabled. The device cannot enter a SIM PIN. If your SIM asks for a PIN at power-on, disable the PIN lock first (put the SIM in a phone → security settings → turn off the SIM PIN), or the device won't register.
• Mobile data is only needed for cloud features — gate operation by call and SMS works with no data plan at all

Wiring

Use cable with 4 × 0.25–0.5 mm² conductors. Strip each wire 7–9 mm before inserting into the connector.

Power

Connect a 7–24 Vdc power supply (12 Vdc recommended) to the V+ and ⏚ (GND) terminals. Any suitable DC supply works — it need not be the gate controller's accessory output. Maximum current draw is 500 mA (briefly, during a call); standby draw is 18–40 mA depending on signal conditions.

Gate Trigger (Relay Output)

Connect OHV to your gate controller's push-button input. The device uses a solid-state relay — when triggered it electronically closes the circuit for the relay time, then opens it again, with no moving parts.

Antenna

Screw the included 4G antenna onto the SMA connector at the top of the board. Hand-tight is sufficient — do not over-tighten.

Mount the antenna vertically for best signal. If the device is inside a metal enclosure, route the antenna cable so the antenna sits outside or on the enclosure lid.

First-Time Setup

1. Insert SIM, attach antenna, wire up.
   See the sections above. Do not power on until the antenna is attached.
2. Power on.
   The device will register on the cellular network automatically. No button press or on-device configuration is required.
3. Claim the device as the owner.
   From the phone number that should permanently manage the device, send this text to the device's SIM number:
   X.SetOwner
   You will receive a reply confirming ownership, along with the current signal strength and connectivity status.
   ⚠ Choose this number carefully — it cannot be changed later by SMS.
   Once set, only this number has admin access to the device. If you ever need to transfer ownership, contact your installer or Fidra support.
4. Add users who can open the gate.
   
   X.AddUser:+381641234567:John
   Replace the number and name with the person's details. You will receive a confirmation back. The name is optional — X.AddUser:+381641234567 adds a user with no name. Names can be up to 16 characters. Phone numbers must be in international format with the + prefix and country code (e.g. +381641234567). The device can store up to 500 approved users.
5. Test.
   Call the device from the owner's number. The call is answered and ended immediately — that is expected behavior, not an error. It means the relay fired and the gate should respond within a second.

Opening the Gate

Any approved user (and the owner) can open the gate in three ways:

Managing Users

Names are saved as plain English letters. Serbian Cyrillic and Latin are converted automatically (Здраво → Zdravo, Žarko → Zarko, Đorđe → Djordje), and emoji or other special characters are removed — a user named "Šećer" is stored and shown as "Secer". The same applies to the device name and any forwarded message text.

The device name appears in the startup/status message — useful if you manage more than one device. Clear it with X.SetDeviceName: (nothing after the colon).

Denied-access alerts are on by default — the owner is texted the first time an unapproved number tries the gate (see Checking Activity below). Suppress the texts with X.DisableAlerts; attempts are still recorded either way.

Reading the lists. Each shows the newest entries first. If a list is longer than one text message can hold, the oldest entries are left off and the message ends with ...(more) — the same mark appears on any device message that had to be shortened. In X.LastGates, a * at the end of a line means that opening was you, the owner.

Denied-access alerts. The device texts the owner the first time a number that isn't approved tries to open the gate, showing the exact number the network reported. This is the easiest way to catch a user added with a wrong number (e.g. a missing country code): their real call won't match what was stored, so the gate silently won't open — but the alert reveals the actual number to compare and re-add. Each number alerts only once. A refusal of an approved user outside their allowed hours is recorded but not texted. View the full list any time with X.LastDenied; turn the alert texts off with X.DisableAlerts (the log still records).

Forwarding a Message

Owner only

Sends a text from the device's own SIM number to any other number (up to 100 characters). No confirmation is sent back — assume it went through. Any reply to that message arrives at the device and is automatically relayed to you as Message from <number>: …

The number can be a full international number (e.g. +381641234567) or a carrier short code without + (e.g. 1200).

Example: Check prepaid credit on A1 Srbija — send X.Forward:1200:?. A1 replies with the current balance, and the device forwards it to you.

Cloud Connectivity

Owner only

Cloud features (remote configuration and log retrieval via the web interface) are off by default — the device works fully by call and SMS without them. To turn the cloud on:

This connects for 30 minutes and then turns the cloud off again automatically — you'll get a reply like Cloud enabled, 30 min. followed by Connected. if it linked up right away, or Not connected yet - still trying. Check APN if it persists. if it didn't. Send it again any time you need the cloud; there's nothing to remember to turn off. To turn the cloud off right away:

X.Signal and the startup/status message show Cloud connected (NN min left) while the cloud is on; once it turns off (or if you never enabled it) that line is simply left out, since cloud off is the normal state. The device is always reachable by SMS whether or not the cloud is on.

If the device can't connect to the cloud

If the reply's second line is Not connected yet - still trying. Check APN if it persists., the device keeps trying in the background for the rest of the 30-minute window — if it links up it texts you Cloud connected., so a short wait is often all it takes. If it never connects, the most common cause is the SIM's mobile data — it may not be enabled, or a prepaid data balance may have run out (data is often a separate add-on from voice/SMS credit). Calls and SMS keep working over a SIM with no data, so the device otherwise behaving normally doesn't rule this out — check with your provider first.

If data is confirmed enabled, set the correct APN:

This works even with no internet connection at the time — SMS doesn't need data. On success the device texts back APN set to '<apn>'. Rebooting. and restarts; if it couldn't apply, you get Couldn't set APN to '<apn>'. instead.

Common Serbian providers:

If your provider isn't listed, check their website or ask support for the correct APN.

Troubleshooting

Gate doesn't open when I call or text

• Is your number on the approved user list? Only the owner and added users can open the gate (unless "open to everyone" mode is on).
• Is owner-only mode currently enabled? It blocks all users except the owner.
• Is the relay time long enough for your gate controller? Try X.OnTime:5 and test again.
• Check X.LastGates — did the device log the attempt at all?

Device doesn't respond to texts

• Is the device powered? Check supply wiring and voltage.
• Does the SIM have SMS service and sufficient credit?
• Send X.Signal from the owner's number — if you get a reply, the device is alive; the number you texted from is likely not the owner or an approved user.

Device is powered but won't register on the network

• Is the antenna attached and screwed in firmly?
• Is the SIM seated correctly (gold contacts facing down)?
• Is the SIM's PIN lock disabled? The device can't enter a PIN — a PIN-locked SIM will never register. Disable the PIN in a phone first, then re-insert and power-cycle the device.
• If you inserted the SIM after powering on, switch the device off and on again (the SIM is only read at startup).
• Try moving the device somewhere with better signal for initial setup.
